The Oregon Renaissance Band, led by Phil and Gayle Neuman, will present a lively free concert of 16th and 17th century music Sunday, November 15.

The Oregon Renaissance Band, founded in 1991, is a Portland-based historical music ensemble specializing in 16th–17th century Renaissance music performed on authentic replica instruments, many of which the Neumans have crafted themselves.  The ensemble is known for rhythmic precision, lively ornamentation, and variety.

The ensemble plays a wide range of period instruments, including:

  • Early violin, viola da gamba, lute, and guitar
  • Recordors, sackbutts, serpent, krummhorns, racketts, tartolds, shawms, schreierpfeiffen
  • Bagpipes, cittern, spinettino, tabor, and various percussion instruments

The Oregon Renaissance Band has appeared in Camerata Musica concerts several times, to the great pleasure of our audience.
